Meticulously reproduced, with all the details of the original. This ammunition crate is fabricated from custom-cut white pine boards (as is the original and as the Ordnance regulation states). The crate’s dovetail joints are painstakingly replicated and the characteristics of the handles that are observed on this and other Watertown Arsenal crates that are reproduced. Proper cut-nails are used to form the box and exacting raw steel slotted wood screws are used on the lid. Lastly, the container is coated with the proper shade and sheen of olive paint, and the stenciling is perfectly traced and sized from an original Watertown .58 cal. crate that resides in a private collection.
